Seascape paintings are one of my preferred pictorial subjects. This example of my seascape paintings is done with sumi and natural pigments, specially pure mineral blue, to depict a striking cliff with sea gulls wheeling at sunset.
To imbue this modern watercolor painting with the eternal song of the sea, I built up several layers of sumi and indigo blue on very thin rice paper, which also evokes the transparent world of the Mediterranean Sea.
The sumi seascape painting is mounted with cream-colored silk that harmonizes delicately with the landscape. The hanging scroll has a natural wooden roller at the bottom.
Mounting size of the entire hanging scroll: 92 x 34.4 ; 243 x 87.5
