Autumn Moon Enso, Zen Enso In Black Sumi With Flying White
This Zen Enso is called Autumn Moon Enso, as I brushed it in praise of the full moon in autumn, the time of the year when the moon is particularly clear and bright. This Enso circle also recalls Han-shan’s Zen poem:
My mind is like the autumn moon
clear and bright in a pool of jade ….
The Autumn Moon Enso has a bright, clear and unwavering bokki or expression. The Enso is brushed with black Japanese sumi ink on premium single ply Xuan rice paper. Technically speaking it shows the flying white style with a spirited interaction between a full and empty brush stroke.
