Mindfulness T-shirts With The Japanese Kanji Nen Brushed In Gyosho Or Semi-cursive Script.
The Japanese kanji 念 Nen, is a lucid ideogram of the English word mindfulness. It has two elements: the 今 at the top that means now and the 心 at the bottom that means mind. We can thus translate this kanji literally as Now Mind or Mind in the Present.
What is mindfulness? In her enlightening article about mindfulness Ven. Jinmyo Renge osho says the following:
Mindfulness is wordless. Mindfulness is meeting the moment as it is, moment after moment after moment, wordlessly attending to our experiencing as it actually is. It is opening to not just the fragments of our lives that we like or dislike or view as important, but the whole of our experiencing.
