The kanji AI, love, is written in a dynamic cursive style. This hanging scroll with a modern kanji calligraphy evokes a human who evolves, inspired by love and generosity.
The Japanese kanji AI is a fascinating kanji, a true pictogram of love.
It is composed of three elements: At the top the pictogram to breathe into, to swallow, in the middle the symbol for heart, and at the bottom you see a human being and a foot, which means to go slowly.
The original meaning of the kanji AI or love is to swallow down into ones heart. The ancient Chinese believed that love gives grace, hence going slowly.
This calligraphy is mounted on silver color silk with a fine floral pattern. The hanging scroll has a natural wooden roller at the bottom.

I have brushed this kanji calligraphy in a very free and dynamic way. I wanted to invoke the immense power of love. The brush strokes have created a magic diagram, like a spell, that makes things happen.
The kanji love is written in cursive script and mounted on silver silk brocade. I chose the silver silk in honor of the silver moon, the celestial being of loving energy.
An original Love kanji calligraphy called ‘Love In Vivid Brushstrokes’, similar in spirit to the one shown on the hanging scroll, is available here.
An artistic abstraction of the love kanji, the Love Phoenix , is available as print at my prints gallery.
